The 71st Tony Awards – The Low Down

The honorary event organised annually to celebrate and distinguish only the best and most deserving creatives to grace the theatre and broadway stage, The Tony Awards, was hosted on the 11th of June 2017 to mark its 71st edition and was held at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The 71st annual tony award was held at the Radio City Music Hall, the preferred venue of choice from the years 1997 t0 2010 (excluding 1999), 2013 to 2015 and most recently on Sunday the 11th June 2017, integrating some of the most famous and talented faces in all of American theatre and broadway history under one vivacious roof to celebrate and encourage the prodigies, creatives, brilliant cast and dexterous crew and stage legends of the theatre world. The event was hosted by house of Cards star with a pocketed theatre history, Kevin Spacey, who opened the show with a remark that he wasn’t anywhere near the first choice to host the show, and was immediately joined by a cohort of Hollywood stars, the likes of Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal and Stephen Colbert who whistled musically serenading advices to the host to not loose hope, a melodiously engaging way to kickstart any event. The event with its overload of nominees spilling from various categories went on smoothly with presentations and performances which dazzled and enthralled the audience.
