I Ate At Beetroot Lekki For The First Time And Here Is What I Think [REVIEW]

I was extremely excited when I was invited to the Bloggers Taster Brunch at Beetroot, The Palms Lekki. First because I am a cheapskate who would never pass up free food (lol) and second of all, I am something of a healthy eating enthusiast (when I can).

Beetroot is located under the stairs in the Food Court, at The Palms Lekki. Although I arrived a tad late, I swiftly found a seat with the other bloggers and media personalities who were halfway through their meal.

When I spotted Sisi Yemmie’s wrap with an overload of chicken bits, my mouth really started to water.

Another thing that stood out to me is the brand colours and design. It’s really eye catchy.

Interestingly I found out that Beetroot is a sister company of the famous Sweet Kiwi. The owner, Ehime Eigbe Akindele, learnt about running a food business whilst working full time at a bank, by taking up a side job at a restaurant. Talk about dedication!

After the success of Sweet Kiwi, She opened Beetroot which is described as a new generation health food chain that adheres strictly to health and safety standards.  They specialise in Salads, Sandwiches, Cold Press Juices, Smoothies, Fruit Bowls, Wraps, Smoothies, Swirly Roots, Popsicles, Iced Tea, Lemonade and so much more healthy goodness. Best of all they adhere strictly to health and safety standards.

I decided to go for the spicy chicken salad with everything in it with a creamy Italian dressing and their Berry Upbeet Smoothie which is a combination of Beetroot, Mango, Spinach, Strawberry and Broccoli. I was so relieved to see the array of fresh vegetables on display.

The staff assisted with the selection process all with bright smiles; My heart was warmed and I sat to wait for my order.

The order was served take-out style in less than 15 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by how sweet it tasted. It had a sweet tinge that definitely didn’t come from any added sugar. Maybe it was the bell peppers. All that mattered was that I loved it.

As much as I hate comparisons, this salad was in EVERY  way better than the salad I regularly order from another Nigerian Company.

The Smoothie was great as well. It didn’t make me fly off my seat screaming YES LORD! But if it really had spinach and broccoli and still tasted that sweet? Then all thanks to them for making me drink my greens.

After a long chat and notes passed around the table about our individual orders, I asked for the wrap I had seen Sisi Yemmie have when I arrived.

I ordered the tomato basil wrap with shrimps and vegetables with an Italian dressing to take home with me .

My take away pack survived the Island to Mainland Traffic and I settled with my meal after a long day. I have to hand it to them, Beetroot didn’t serve me rubbery, overcooked shrimp it was juicy and just perfect!

Dear, Beetroot, You have a loyal customer!
